It sounds like your browser’s pop-up blockers are turned on. When you click the drop-down arrow next to the Date field, the pop-up calender should appear and allow you to select a date. You can manually enter the date in the following format, YYYY-MM-DD. For example, today’s date would be 2012-12-06.
