Rondee 2.0 Going Live

Over the last few months you may have noticed some changes at Rondee. We are delighted to now announce the official launch of the newly improved Rondee Free Conference Calling website.

We encourage you to take a tour of the new site: http://tinyurl.com/newRondeeOverview

The new Rondee website provides a number of enhancements to enable our users to organize, set-up and arrange conference calls. A number of new features are available now to BOTH On Demand users as well as Scheduled Rondee users:

• The power to customize your greeting prompts when users enter and exit the conference call

• A directory of your calls showing you who dialed in and for how long

• The option to record your conference calls and access the audio

Equally importantly, the new version of Rondee makes it much easier to access both your On Demand as well as Scheduled conferences through a single interface.

What’s Changing in the New Rondee?

The new version of Rondee (officially launching late summer) will represent a total re-thinking of how we enable our users to organize, set-up and arrange conference calls.

A number of new features will be available now to BOTH On Demand users as well as Scheduled Rondee users in the weeks ahead….

  • The option to record your conference calls and access the audio.
  • The power to customize your greeting tones in order to control whether participants hear a chime, hear their names being announced (or simply silence) when they enter and leave the conference call.
  • A directory of your calls showing you who dialed in and for how long.
  • A listen-only setting which allows you to provide some or all participants with a listen-only PIN.

Equally importantly, the new version of Rondee makes it much easier to have both your On Demand as well as Scheduled conferences under “one roof” by providing a single interface which allows you to access both services.

If you already had a Rondee account with a password, there is no need to create a new account.  Your existing login e-mail address and password will work just fine.  We encourage you to take a tour of the new site

If you were previously using Rondee but had no password, you can continue using Rondee just like you were before. But if you want access to all the new features,  you’ll need to take a moment and sign up for a fully featured account by clicking on the link in the e-mail we will send to you as an existing user

Rondee question about charges

“I’m comparing our conference call options. Can you address this question: Toll or Toll Free Conference Calling – one of the ways many conference call service companies  offer a low rate is by providing a low rate for Toll Access to the conference call.  The problem with this type of access is that you and your conference participants might be incurring charges in the form of long distance charges for connecting to this local or toll number which is not local to you.  Especially if you are inviting customers to the call you do not want them to incur any toll charges to connect to your conference call.”

The statement above is certainly accurate.  Some people these days have unlimited calling plans and therefore do not experience any additional cost in making a long distance phone call.  Some people who are dialing in on cell phones with a fixed bucket of minutes simply have their minutes deducted and therefore do not experience any additional cost and making a long-distance phone call.  However, for other people, who are on the older plans where they are paying a per minute rate to dial a long-distance call would probably prefer to dial a toll-free number in which case the cost is simply shifted back to the organizer who has hosted the 1-800 call.

Question about accessing the audio for a Rondee conference call

Got this question asked this morning: ”

I have been receiving invitations to rondee calls from someone all winter. I finally set up my own rondee account a few weeks ago. But I cannot access my rondee account in relation to invitations to rondee calls. In other words, I can’ get to a recording of the conference call, because the system is treating me like two different people – one in my account and another in the invitation to a rondee call. Can you help me with this?”

There is an easy solution to this.  Assuming that Erik checked the box for “Record this call”, you can access the audio within 30 days of the call having ended by simply clicking on the link to the page for that conference which you will see in any of the invitation e-mails.  After you click on the link to that page from within the e-mail, you will be taken to a landing page for that conference.  This is the exact same landing page that you normally see when you are responding yes or no for your attendance.  At the bottom of that page you will see a link for the audio (if it is within 30 days of the call having ended).

Question about Rondee and long distance charges for conference calling

We recently had this question come across: ”

My company is thinking of switching our conference calling provider to Rondee. I understand that Rondee is a free

service, but I noticed that it says the cost for the conference call wouldn’t be any more than a regular long distance

call. What does this mean exactly? If I am in NYC and calling anywhere within US and Canada, is it the same national

fee, or is it as if I were calling Europe?

Thanks for clarifying!”

Our free conference bridge numbers are in California: 619-276-6333 and 916-209-4534.  Rondee will not be charging you for the use of our service.  However, if your phone company would normally charge you, say, 2 cents per minute to dial a California number from NYC, your phone company will still be charging your two cents per minute to dial our California number from NYC.

Question about Rondee Limits

I saw the posting: “How long can a Rondee on demand call go per call? Is there a monthly limit on time?”

The maximum amount of time for any individual Rondee conference call is 8 hours.  There is no monthly limit either on the number of calls you can do with Rondee or on the amount of time you can use in the aggregate.

Question about everyone using the same PIN code for Rondee conference calling

I saw this question: “Is it possible to have one code for all my conference call participants…They all don’t always have access to the computer to get a code.  If I can give them all the same telephone number and code it is easier… is that possible? Thank you”

The answer to your question about Rondee is yes.  There are two ways to accomplish what you are trying to do.

Method 1: Continue to use Scheduled Rondee conference calling like you have been but notify your participants that they are welcome to use your PIN code when they are dialing in.

Method 2: Intead of using Scheduled Rondee, use Rondee On-Demand and secure for yourself a PIN code.  Independently do your own scheduling and let folks know that they should all dial in using the exact same Rondee On-Demand PIN code.  Here is a link to signing up for a Rondee on-demand PIN code if you don’t already have one: http://www.rondee.com/rondeenow/

Question about rondee conference calling and toll-free charges

I saw this question: “Another conference provider that we are using charge a “Cost Recovery Fee” and a “USF Recovery Charge”. If I use Rondee Toll Free will those same fees be applied?”

The answer is no.  Rondee conference calling does not charge those fees that some of our competitors might charge.  Our cost for toll-free (which has been a flat five cents per minute per user for the last couple years) is an all-inclusive rate.

Rondee Free Conferencing and Google Calendar

I saw this posting: “I’m a google user, and I love using your conference calling service. The only problem is that when prompted to add the call to my calendar, the only option that shows up is for Outlook. Is there a way to configure this so that it works with the gmail calendar?”

Rondee gives you a URL to import your Rondee conference calls into many popular calendar applications such as the Google Calendar. (you get this URL by logging into your account and clicking on the My Account link)

To add a calendar in Google using this URL, follow these steps:

  1. At the bottom of the calendar list on the left, click the Add down-arrow button and select Add by URL.
  2. Find the address of the Google Calendar in iCalendar format, or if you have the iCalendar address of a calendar from a different application (for example, Apple’s iCal), you can use this as well.
  3. Enter the address in the field provided.
  4. Click Add Calendar. The calendar will appear in the Other Calendars section of the calendar list to the left.
